Alan Richardson

Alan Richardson, an IAAF Academy member and Level 5 ‘Elite Jumps Coach’, is the Director of Athletics at Millfield School. Richardson is the former UKA National Event Coach for Pole Vault.

Scott Simpson

Scott Simpson (Senior National Performance Institute Coach – Pole Vault). Scott was an international pole vaulter who represented Great Britain and Wales, placing 6th at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. He has previously held professional roles as; the Director of Athletics (UWIC / Cardiff Met University), National Coach Mentor (England Athletics) and the Head of Coaching and Performance (Welsh Athletics), before being appointed to his current role in 2018. Scott’s coaching accolades include guiding Kate Dennison (Rooney) to the 2012 Olympic Games, Sally Peake to Commonwealth Games silver in 2014 and Holly Bradshaw to the 2016 Olympic final, the 2015 and 2017 World Championship finals and the 2013 European Indoor gold, 2018 European Outdoor bronze medals, 4th World Championships and Silver medal at the European Indoor Championships in 2019."


During the webinar, Alan will be drawing upon his experience working with developing and world-class athletes and identify the components to consider in helping vaulters transition from youth through junior and onto senior success. Alan will be supported by BA NPI coach for Pole Vault, Scott Simpson.
